Rooftop-Radio: Weathering Station is a nomadic DIY radio booth that broadcasts from rooftops across South Korea. It takes its cue from the weather stations on top of many buildings, which produce large amounts of environmental data, and turns rooftops into stages. The station looks at the politics and aesthetics of these raised spaces and broadcasts stories of resistance and autonomy. It invites practitioners who are engaged in their own forms of ‘weathering’ to share their artistic practices and to sense, together, the environmental and socio-political climate from the rooftops.

The first episode aired in October 2023 from the rooftop of the Seongbuk Art Center in Seoul, and more broadcasts are planned from rooftops in other regions. As the conversations unfold, they drift like the wind beyond the physical limits of the rooftop. Together, we sense, perform, and act, and gradually come to embody experiences that are both individual and collective.
