Weather Station: Receiving Body is a guided weather meditation performed on a rooftop in Seoul, delivered as a live broadcast from the Weathering Station. Blindfolded, participants are asked to set aside what they can see and turn toward what cannot be seen, heard or touched.
The voice begins with coordinates, temperature, humidity and wind, locating everyone at the same point on the planet, then slowly moves inward. Ultraviolet light settles on an outstretched hand, the smell of a southern wind arrives, and particles are allowed to pass through the body with each breath. Nitrogen, ozone, pollen and spores are named in the same breath as sulphur dioxide, PM2.5 and mercury, followed by capital, class, discrimination and oppression, as if these too were part of the air.
Following this matter into the alveoli and the cochlea, the performance proposes the body as a receiver continuously traversed by its surroundings, one that records the weather and time passing through it. It suggests that we may already be products of the environment we have polluted.
